the Laffoley Archive Project: We Believe This Is Some of The Most Important Art for the 21st Century, as well as one of the most comprehensive attempts to anticipate specific techno-social details of alternative futures. Paul Is articulating a Detailed Vision of Balanced Techno-Spiritual Development, in the spirit of Buckminster Fuller, Teilhard De Chardin, Palo Soleri, Nikola Tesla & Terrence McKenna. Laffoley Describes How to Understand and React to the Emergence of the "Bauharoque Age" (post-post modernism) "... which is the last period in the Modern Cycle. Beginning at the turn of the second millennium A.D. and lasting to the year 2099. This time period will see the end of 'science fiction' as all possibilities become reality. Religions, morality, mysticism and technology converge and after this sequence (which is happening now) All technology becomes physically alive as evolution becomes artificial & self-directed.  Feeling that this information was under-known to a general audience,
I was lucky enough to contact Mr. Laffoley in August 2005 and proposed the idea of creating a site to explain his ideas more clearly and reach out to a wider audience of concerned planetary citizens. Paul did not seem to have made the connection that his art is perfectly formatted for the younger 'Internet Generation' that is accustomed to information-dense presentations and was perfect for many people actively seeking 'convergent' paradigms to contextualize our seemingly insane planetary situation and the massive change our species is undergoing. After decades of confusion of how to categorize Paul's art, the public consciousness has finally caught-up to his subject-matter. The then-obscure topics Laffoley has been examining the details of since the 1960s - such as nanotechnology, time-mechanics and transdisciplinary convergence - are now widely understood and accepted. In summer 2006 my friend, who's code-name is VALIS, practically forced me to create the Paul Laffoley Myspace Fan Site - basically to get to it before someone else did. Myspace is a world-wide social networking site with over 700,000,000 individual members, and news of Paul Laffoley's art spread quickly among a very wide range of scenes. In only one year (with no advertising) it has grown to almost 10,000 amazingly diverse & cool friends from every nation. The majority are well-informed life-long 'webbies' in their 20's or 30s. Many of them were shocked or surprised never to have seen Paul Laffoley's art before (because growing up online you feel like you've seen everything already).Others were familiar from articles in Juxtapoz and the DisInfo Interviews book & DVD. Generally people say "This art is so amazingly beautiful, well composed and definitely has an important message ... i'm inspired to learn whatever it takes to become capable of understanding that message." We have received literally hundreds of messages at www.myspace.com/paullaffoley from people who were uniquely inspired by Paul's works. Just seeing his art once made them want to read more, to start painting again, to study math, to compose music or poetry and aroused a general curiosity about the universe or creative impulse. This seems to be objective confirmation that Laffoley's art has 'Transformative Effects' on many people's mental, artistic, psychic, academic and spiritual motivation. Therefore, we hope this archive will play a role not only in expanding public access to Laffoley's futuristic ideas, but also be helpful in arousing general curiosity and investigation of how to deal successfully with the technological 'pandora's box' our human species has opened. Buckminster Fuller said "We are called to be architects of the future, not its victims.” and Paul Laffoley's concepts are an essential part of understanding the context of the present-future well enough to anticipate radical changes & adapt in benevolent and progressive ways, in terms of eco-techno-societal balance and personal evolution of consciousness. |
